Chinese Government Scholarship-Chinese University Program is a full scholarship set up by China's Ministry of Education to support prestigious Chinese universities to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. Shihezi University, one of the designated Chinese universities, welcomes excellent international students to study master or doctoral programs under this program.
Introduction
Shihezi University is a new comprehensive university, located in Shihezi city, the Garden City. In August 2000, the Central Government designated the university as a key institution to be developed in northwestern China. Shihezi University was ranked among the key constructed university under the 211 project in Dec 31, 2008.
The University offers 11 categories of disciplines-- Agriculture, Medicine, Engineering, Economics and Trade, Management, Literature and Arts, Sciences, Education, Law, and History. The university has 21 colleges, offering 9 doctorate degrees, 60 masters degrees, 94 bachelor degrees programs, 9 specialties that enroll on-job-teachers for masters degrees, 4 post-doctoral mobile stations. The university has 11 disciplines of Ministry of Agriculture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC), 2 key laboratories co-constructed and supported by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the XPCC. It has 10 key laboratories of XPCC, 5 key bases for art and scientific research and 24 graduate schools and research centers.
The University now has a faculty of 2,601, including 1,889 full-time teachers, one specially-engaged academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 308 professors, 686 associate professors. The university employs more than 10 foreign experts and teachers every year. The total enrollment of students numbers 41065, including 22462 undergraduates 6503 postgraduates and about 475 international students from 22 countries, such as Russia, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Argentina, Nepal, Bengal, Kazakstan, etc.
The University is equipped with the most up-to-date teaching and scientific research facilities. It has a well-equipped library, a large gymnasium, a multi-functional stadium and modernized teaching buildings. The University covers 1,794,000 square meters. It has 1,261,000 square meters of building, and the area of its laboratories is 269,700 square meters .The library has a collection of 2,900,000 Chinese and foreign books and periodicals.
Eligibility
1. An applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the People's Republic of China, and be in good health;
2. The requirements for applicants' degree and age are that applicants must:
-be a Bachelor's degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the Master's programs;
-be a Master's degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the Doctoral programs;
3. An applicant must Not be holding any other scholarship.
Supporting Categories and Duration
1. Supporting Category. This scholarship only supports graduate students.
2. Duration. This scholarship only supports master's students for 2-3 academic years or doctoral students for 4 academic years.
Scholarship Coverage
This is a full scholarship which covers
1. Tuition waiver;
2. Campus accommodation;
3. Stipend: Master's students CNY 3,000 per month, Doctoral students CNY 3,500 per month;
4. Foreign Students Comprehensive Medical Insurance.

Admission and Notification
1. SHZU will review all the application documents;
2. SHZU is qualified to recommend candidates to CSC. CSC will decide the final list of scholarship winners;
3. SHZU will inform and send the admission documents (Admission Letter and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) to scholarship recipients.
